Frosted Edge Bathroom Mirror

Frosted edge is the most popular edge treatment for bathroom mirrors today. We start with a cut mirror. Then we grind the edge with a diamond wheel. Next we polish it with a fine resin wheel. Finally, we spray it with fine sand. The result is a translucent matte finish around the edge. The frosted edge gives you three benefits. First, the edge is smooth and will not cut you. Installation and cleaning are safe. Second, the matte finish does not reflect light. It looks softer and more premium. Third, the grinding removes micro-cracks from the cutting process. The edge becomes stronger and less likely to chip. Our standard frosted edge width is 5 to 20mm. You can also ask for a wider edge up to 30 or 40mm. The visual effect will be more noticeable.

The worst thing for a frosted edge is uneven width. One side is 5mm wide. The other side is 8mm wide. It looks cheap. The grinding wheel keeps a constant contact angle with the mirror edge. The ground edge width stays uniform. The deviation is within ±0.5mm. The most common pairing for a frosted edge is a frameless mirror. Without a frame, the matte texture of the frosted edge shows clearly. The visual effect is very pure. Many designers like to use frameless frosted edge mirrors in minimalist bathrooms. They pair them with white tiles and black fixtures. The look is clean and simple. Our recommendation for this pairing is to make the frosted edge a bit wider, around 10mm. This gives the frameless mirror more "presence." It does not look like a plain piece of glass. It looks like a carefully finished product.

The frosted surface is matte. It has tiny textures. If water spots or soap scum build up, they show more clearly than on a shiny surface. For daily cleaning, wipe with a damp soft cloth. Then dry with a clean cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. They will scratch the matte surface. If water spots have built up over time, wipe with diluted white vinegar. Then rinse with clean water. The matte finish will come back.
